Week 3, March 2009

This was fun shoot!! Through the course of the day we photographed close to 30 youths individually, with siblings, with parents, with grandparents, and with friends. Though it was a tough shoot in some ways, keeping the pace and "staying on" through the back-to-back sessions, it was nowhere near as tough as the lives of these kids, and the reason they were all there.

This amazing group of youths (some seen here with their parents) all share something in common... they all live with type ones diabetes, also know as juvenile diabetes as it is most commonly diagnosed from infancy to late 30's. Though I have photographed people and events for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for almostt 5 years, I won't pretend for a moment that I fully comprehend the hardship that people with this disease face in their daily lives. I do know, from working with the kids and the JDRF on many an occasion, that research to find a cure is under way, and welcomes the support of individuals and companies in its fund raising efforts. If you'd like to know more about Type 1 diabetes, the JDRF, or most importantly, how YOU can get involved helping to find a cure, please visit
