Week 1, November 2006

Cathedral Place

Standing 382 feet tall, a total of 23 floors, Cathedral Place is built on the site of the former Georgia Medial Building. The construction of the building, completed in 1991, included many of the original moldings, fixtures and statues of the original building.

This image was not part of an assignment, but one that I shot for fun. As a photography instructor, one of the things I tell my students is that they have take time out from their busy lives and family commitments to shoot.
Spending time alone with your camera and shooting for fun (with pressure to get back in the car because the kids are screaming for you) is an important part of being creative, and truly enjoying photography.

If you're a "shooter" and its been awhile since you've gone off with your camera, maybe its time. Give yourself a location, and a maybe a theme to shoot for. For example, set out to shoot only wide angle shots, or maybe only close-ups. It'll get you back to the passion of Photography.
