Week 3, October 2006

After a very busy summer and early fall, it's time to bring "Shot of the Week" back from its break. We hope you enjoy the ensuing editions in the weeks to come.

Indian Uncle -
Best of Class!

At the Annual Print Competition of the Professional Photographers' Association of British Columbia, held this past weekend in Victoria, this image was one of three I had accepted by the judges to hang in the salon. It then went on to win the trophy in the class of "Restoration"

The restoration project was one I had done for a client late last year. It was his uncle, photographed in England in the late 30's, early 40's. The original print had everything from water damage, creases and folds, abrasions through the emulsion layer (where the image lives on the paper backing) and a variety of other "age spots". Simply put, this print was old and tired. After a high resolution scan, then a few hours of "surgery" under the PhotoShop scalpal, the new and improved print was ready to go.

Deciding to enter it in the provincial salon, in a "specialist" category was a bit of a leap, as I've never entered in this class before. The judges seemed to like it :)

Take Me Away - Honourable Mention

Since we're bringing back "Shot of the Week" from its summer slumber, why not throw
in another image for fun.
..

This image also went to the provincials, entered into the Wedding Couple category. Though it didn't win in its class, I was still happy with a second place finish with Merit and Honorable Mention

"Shot of the Week" is brought to you by Christopher M. Johnson Photography as a way of sharing images that were a part of the workflow for that given week. In this weekly posting, I hope to share with you interesting images of all types, including Wedding, Portrait, Commercial and whatever else the lens might see.
Also in the posting will be announcements for promotions, events, classes and other points of interest.
